It wasn't meant to be this way... At least that's what they'll say while staring mournfully out the window on a rainy night.
Now the adults are locked away in underground buildings, prisoners of their own minds, some might ask why they haven't left, they'll give you an odd look and say "Who could ever want to go above the ground? Do you know what it's like out there?" You will never convince them to come out.
Parents send out their children at age six, and when they turn sixteen they are split into groups of whichever meme they are most like. They live that way up above the ground their whole lives, for the meme children can never go back down once their parents have sent them out.
The different meme groups are rivals of course, just trying to figure it all out.
You might be wondering how it got this way by now, well, no one really speaks of it. You see, memes had a large impact on the world, they got to everyone's heads and caused a war, forcing many people to go into hiding underground. This did not happen a long time ago, it was very recent. What will happen when all the adults underground die? We don't know, we only know that you must be true to your meme and try to survive.
GOOD LUCK IN THE WORLD OF MEMES, MEME CHILD.
